How to Make Money Blogging

I’ve had days where I made ten thousand dollars on my blog. It’s not even out of the ordinary.

Now it took a ton of hard work and dedication to reach millions of readers. You need serious traffic to make that kind of money. It’s not something you should expect to achieve overnight.

That said, all that stands between you and this kind of success is your time and effort.

Plus, there are way more ways to make money blogging today than when I first started. Making an extra few hundred dollars a month is not that far off if you are willing to put in the work.

In this guide, I’ll show you the exact way to make money from blogging by avoiding the mistakes I’ve made in my 10-year journey.

Sound good? Let’s begin.

Your 2-Minute Cheat Sheet

The very first thing you need to start making money is to come up with an idea and the name for your blog. Think through the topics you’d want to write about often.

After that, sign up for the WordPress Starter plan with Hostinger. Even if you don’t have much of a budget, you can lock in an affordable rate of $3.99 per month for four years.

After you select your hosting plan and create your account, Hostinger’s setup wizard will help with much of the rest.

Enter some details about your site and your site-building experience level, then select WordPress as your platform of choice. Hostinger will install WordPress for you once the setup is completed, so you don’t have to do a thing.

After that, you can select a template for your site or start designing it from scratch.

The last step is to select a domain name. With Hostinger’s WordPress Starter hosting plan (and higher plans, as well), a free domain is included. Just make sure to add on WHOIS privacy. A few extra dollars for better privacy and security can be well worth it.

And with this, you’ll have your blog site up and running. Hurrah!

The next step will be finally writing and publishing your first blog post.

Once you’ve got a few posts up and have started to attract some traffic, you can work on monetizing your blog to make your first dollars.

For this, you’ll have to sign up for a Google AdSense and Amazon Associates account to make money through ads and affiliate marketing, respectively. You can also sell your own products and services after successfully driving high traffic to your site.

That was the basics. Let’s get into the details now.

How to Make Money Blogging

Step 1: Figure Out Your Blog’s Niche

The first on the agenda is to decide what your blog is going to be about. Whether you want to talk about marketing, CBD, veganism, or just random life stories, figure it out.

Remember, your idea doesn’t have to be revolutionary, but you do need a unique voice.

Here are two tips for deciding on a blog niche:

1. Choose Something That You Enjoy

I know that this sounds like a cliche, but it makes no sense to blog about it if you don’t love the topic.

Never start blogging about something that you don’t love—it will show in your writing and your readers will know. Moreover, you won’t be able to consistently produce top-notch content to build your audience and later monetize from it.

Make a list of things that get you naturally curious and that you enjoy learning about. Or think about what your friends and family come to you when seeking advice.

2. Find Out Whether a Prospective Niche Has a Readership

The only way you can earn money through your blog is if you have enough site visitors.

Let’s assume you’ve already figured out your blog niche and want to write about arts and crafts.

You make a smart decision to niche down further and develop a blog exclusively dedicated to either paper art or scrapbooking. While you enjoy writing about both topics, you prefer to focus on one primarily.

But how do you choose between the two options?

Answer: Do a quick Google search.

Google results quantity for keyword search 1 for How to Make Money Blogging

Google results quantity for keyword search 2 for How to Make Money Blogging

As you can see, there are far more results related to paper art as opposed to scrapbooking. Therefore, it makes more sense to write about paper art, which is what audiences are searching for.

I would also like to add that it’s better to avoid broad or generic topics. Don’t be afraid to get specific as long as you have takers for it.

For instance, if you want to create a food blog, don’t use words like “food.” Instead, use “barbecue” or “vegan.”

Get my point?

Step 2: Name Your Blog

Once an idea is in place, you need to work on naming your blog.

Does the name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta ring a bell? Thought so.

But I bet Lady Gaga does.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta is Lady Gaga’s real name. She decided to go with a catchier and easier-to-remember alternative that aligns better with her music.

Lady Gaga stage name example for How to Make Money Blogging

That’s the power of the right name.

Choosing a blog name is equal parts exciting and daunting. After all, this will be your brand name and dictate how people will remember you.

Don’t overthink it, and don’t name your blog something random or offensive.

Keep in mind the following questions when deciding on a name:

  • Does it reflect what your blog is going to be about?
  • Would your target audience like it?
  • Is the name easy to say and spell?
  • Is it short and concise?

I chose my own name as my domain (NeilPatel.com) simply because Neil Patel is who I am, and it’s also my brand. You could do what I did or come up with something entirely different.

I’d recommend opting for a .com whenever possible. But they can get expensive, I know.

If all the good .coms are taken, don’t stress. think about your main URL keywords.

If you were aiming for talkCBDtome.com but somebody else got there first, try talkCBDto.me for something cheaper and every bit as easy to remember.

Don’t buy an available domain at this point. I have something up my sleeve to help you get it for free.

Step 3: Sign up with a Web Host Like Hostinger

You need to sign up for a web hosting service to get your blog live, along with a registered domain name that will serve as your blog’s address.

I recommend Hostinger, as it’s hands down one of the best web hosting companies—not to mention, it’s affordable. Head over to Hostinger’s website and click Start Now to see their hosting plans.

I recommend the WordPress Starter plan because it’s the cheapest plan (just $3.99 per month) that also includes a free domain name.

If you have a domain, you can save even more and get the $1.99/month rate of Single WordPress. It has lower limits on the on-site storage and monthly visits, but you don’t have to worry about exceeding those while you’re starting out. You can always upgrade later.

After you click Select, you’ll enter payment information and make your Hostinger account. Once the payment processes, you’ll be guided by Hostinger’s setup wizard.

It asks you three questions to start in order to give you the most helpful setup process: who you are creating the website for, what kind of website it will be, and your experience level with building a website.

I’m pretty experienced with creating sites, but the rest of this walkthrough reflects choosing the path for beginners with some experience.

The next screen is where you’ll select WordPress as your blogging platform. If you don’t already have a WordPress account, Hostinger supplies a handy field to create one without leaving the setup wizard.

Hostinger setup select WordPress for How to Make Money Blogging

After that, Hostinger gives you the choice of picking a template or starting with a blank canvas of a site.

Then, you’ll secure that free domain included in your Hostinger plan. If you’ve already looked into the availability of your preferred domain, you’ll be able to quickly find it and check out in one step.

Hostinger domain select for How to Make Money Blogging

The key, though, is to add on WHOIS privacy for an extra $10 per year. It’s not too much to pay to make sure your private information as a domain purchaser is not publicly visible or searchable.

Once you’ve checked out, Hostinger will take a couple of minutes to complete the setup and install WordPress.

This is the point where you’ll have your blog!

Once the wizard is complete, you’ll be taken to Hostinger’s control panel, hPanel. Since WordPress is already installed for you, you can now start designing your blog to suit your style.

Step 4: Design Your WordPress Blog

To design a blog, you need to select an attractive and affordable WordPress theme.

Why do you need this? Well, after signing up for WordPress, your blog will look something like this:

Not exactly what you’d call sleek and welcoming, right? The way your website looks can help drive more website traffic, which, in turn, will enable you to make more money.

Luckily, WordPress has thousands and thousands of themes for you to choose from. I’ve even done a roundup of some of the best ones. Here’s how you can select a WordPress theme:

Log into your WordPress account.Click on Appearance in the sidebar menu on your dashboard. From the drop-down options, select Themes.

WordPress change theme for How to Make Money Blogging

Go to Add New, located at the very top of the screen, to gain access to thousands of fancy WordPress themes. You can also click on Feature Filter to filter your search to see options more suited to your tastes.

You should choose a theme that fits your personal style, but at the same time, it should also be in sync with your blog niche.

Preview the theme to see what it will look like. If you like the sneak peek of a specific theme, click on Install and then Activate.

With a nice new theme, your website will get a much-needed upgrade that makes it look appealing to visitors.

Step 5: Come Up With Interesting Blog Topics

If you want to be successful blogging, you need to keep doing what you can to attract more website traffic or encourage more email signups. The best way to do that is through what you’re already doing on your blog posts: offering your readers interesting content.

But what if you’ve exhausted your best ideas already on previous blog posts?

My tip is to make a list of questions you get often.

Trust me, within just 30 minutes, you’ll be able to come up with a bunch of new potential blog topics. Your priority should be to look at things from your reader’s viewpoint.

Neil Patel blog topics for How to Make Money Blogging

You can also focus on higher-level questions. The five below are ones I suggest you ask yourself to get in your readers’ minds.

Suppose you want to start a parenting blog for stay-at-home moms. Let’s go through those five questions with that example in mind:

Q1) What could be an intriguing or exciting talking point for your readers?

For stay-at-home moms, topics related to sleep training, family activities, and budget-friendly meal ideas could be a great place to start.

Q2) What are your reader’s pain points and challenges?

Common household challenges for stay-at-home moms could be meal planning, understanding developmental milestones, and so on.

Q3) What are your readers’ character traits?

Moms are typically patient and caring and appreciate a sense of humor about the hard work of raising children.

Q4) What niche topics would appeal the most to your readers?

A child’s mental, physical, and emotional development could be effective talking points for stay-at-home moms.

Q5) What topics would your readers hate about the niche?

Stay-at-home moms don’t like to be looked down on by others. So, you could write blogs about how society views them and their impact.

Similarly, you can use the above questions to come up with ideas according to your niche. While you’re at it, don’t forget to work out a catchy headline that will make the reader instantly click on your blog.

Step 6: Optimize Your Blogs for SEO

Search engine optimization or SEO is a crucial step to earn money via blogging. Here, you will optimize your website to rank higher in search engines for specific keywords and phrases.

If you’ve been following me for a long time, you may already know how SEO is my trump card.

By incorporating particular keywords and phrases, I’ve successfully driven more than 30 million visitors to my website. Shocked?

That’s the power of SEO.

On WordPress, you can optimize your content and blog by downloading a plugin called Yoast SEO.

Go to the Plugins menu, and click on Add New. Search for Yoast SEO in the search bar, and then install the plugin.

Don’t forget to activate it to complete the installation process.

You’ll find that this plugin will give you all kinds of improvement tips and suggestions based on the keyword you select to help you optimize your content. I’d recommend incorporating as many suggestions as you can to improve SEO and content readability.

Step 7: Sign up for Google AdSense

Setting up ads is the best way to monetize your blog. But you need to be smart about it.

The biggest mistake people make is to bombard their sites with blinking ads. Avoid this at all costs.

Instead, focus on using targeted ads that appeal to your customers without annoying them.

To start earning money through ads, you need a Google AdSense account. Head over to the AdSense page, and click on Sign Up Now. If you don’t have an existing Google account, you have to set up a new one. If you already have a Google account, simply sign in.

Fill out all the relevant information before submitting your application. The AdSense team reviews every application, and if everything goes well, you’ll be in!

Next, follow the below steps to set up your account:

  1. Go to your AdSense dashboard and click on My Ads > New ad unit.
  2. Select the size of your ad and the type of ad. Once you’re done, select Save and get code.

Google AdSense add new ad unit for How to Make Money Blogging

You’ll get a bit of code that you’ll then have to copy and paste between your page’s <body> tags. Here’s how it’ll look.

Google AdSense ad example HTML code for How to Make Money Blogging

Once you’ve pasted the code, your ad will be live. Your AdSense dashboard will have all information about your earnings, so check it regularly.

While you can use ads on as many as you want, I would recommend starting with just one–maybe two max–to get an idea of how your audience responds to them.

If you see a higher bounce rate on your dashboard, you should consider repositioning your current ads for better results.

Step 8: Create an Amazon Associates Account

You might have already heard of affiliate marketing. If your goal is to earn passive income, leveraging the power of affiliates is your best bet.

You can start by signing up for Amazon Associates, which allows you to start earning right away through referral links, display ads, or Amazon-based shopping carts.

If your visitors decide to use your referral link or click on the display ads, you’ll get a small commission.

To sign up for Amazon Associates, all you need to do is visit the website and click on Join Now for Free.

This can be pretty effective. Just check out these earnings of Brendan Mace for definitive proof.

Amazon Associates earnings example for How to Make Money Blogging

Amazon Associates isn’t the only affiliate program.

You’ll be happy to know that there are plenty of companies with their own affiliate programs, some of which pay higher commissions than Amazon. Just make sure to research before signing up to be an affiliate for a brand.

That said, I’d also like to emphasize the importance of advertising only those products or services that you’ve used yourself or genuinely believe can help your audience.

Step 9: Offer a Product or Service for Sale (Optional)

Many people think that advertisements are the only source of income for bloggers. This might be true for a few, but you’ll also find many bloggers make quite a bit of money by selling a product or service.

Of course, this will only work when you already have a loyal readership with steady website traffic like Nomadic Matt. Once you’re at this stage, you shouldn’t be afraid to take the leap.

Nomadic Matt books for sale for How to Make Money Blogging

Here are a few things that you can consider selling:

  • Training courses
  • Books
  • Video courses/webinars
  • Coaching services
  • Consulting services

Next, you have to figure out how you want to sell your product. Services like Shopify or WooCommerce plugins on WordPress, Amazon, or Etsy are great options for digital products.

If you’re selling a physical product (like phone cases or clothes), you’ll have to set up a more comprehensive ecommerce store.

Finally, let your audience know about your product or service by sending them emails. You can also consider developing lead magnets like pre-recorded webinars, PDFs, and whitepapers to build your email list.

13 Things We Learned from 10 Years of Writing SEO Friendly Blog Posts

We have written and optimized – for our own blog or other pages – thousands of articles and SEO-friendly blog posts in the last 10 years.

What better way to learn from past successes and mistakes?

We’d like to share them with you, not just as a holiday gift, but mostly because sharing our insights with others is what makes us and the people around us stronger and more resilient.

Blog Posting

Google’s rules and updates changed way too many times to be worth counting and the content writers on this blog have changed a lot as well, trying to uncover Google’s mystery box.

We’ve lost weight, hair, nerves, and money in the process but believe us, we have learned a lot and most of the times the hard way.

So, we’re going to expose ourselves in a vulnerable matter; yet, if this article saves you from repeating some mistakes we did, we declare ourselves happy. 🙂

The end of the year is usually a time to reminisce and reflect on the time that has passed and hopefully extract some amount of wisdom – no matter how small – to take into the new year.

For many of us, 2021 will be different, since we’ve likely had to go through this exercise a lot earlier than the end of the year.

So, we decided to look even further back, in hopes that the lessons we find will speak to something greater than the general terribleness of this year.

13 Things We Learned from 10 Years of Writing SEO Friendly Blog Posts

We’ve run an SEO blog for ten years now.

And we’ve learned one or two things along the way.

Here are 13 of them (yes 13, in 2020):

  1. Optimize Everything from URLs to Conclusions
  2. Don’t Assume Anything! Check Grammar, Facts, Quotes
  3. Being Consistent Is Difficult. It’s Also the Key to Success
  4. Originality Is Good but so Is Content Update
  5. Google Algorithms Come and Go, Quality Content Stays
  6. Creativity Is A Lot of Hard Work
  7. Questions Are More Useful than Answers
  8. Forget Academic Writing
  9. Solve Your Readers’ Problems, not Your Dilemmas
  10. The Title of the Article Will Influence Its Performance
  11. Write Less but Write Better
  12. Write Less, Promote More
  13. Stick to Your Principles

1. Optimize Everything from URLs to Conclusions

I know, you already got this: you know that you need to have well-optimized content, meaning that you need to use your targeted keyword within the title once and the body contains at least ten times and Google will have no other choice than rank your content.

And if it doesn’t, well, we all know that Google sucks so, it’s their fault.

Of course, this is an exaggeration.

But it has a grain of truth in it.

As search marketing changed, we have evolved as well as learned what both our readers and Google expect from us.

We all know that optimized content is the key to success.

But optimization shouldn’t stop at the body of the content.

You should also optimize:

  • The Title
  • The URL
  • The Meta Description
  • The Slug
  • The Images
  • The Internal Links
  • The Outbound Links
  • The Text Length
  • The Article Main Image

We used to overlook some of these items.

Or, at least we did not give them the right importance.

This is how we ended up with URLs like this: https://cognitiveseo.com/blog/26/the-best-link-building-blogs-experts-and-their-tutorials-from-2011/ or with three articles published one after another having the titles: How to Get Links, How to Earn Links, and How to Acquire Links.

You’ll find plenty of material on this blog on how to optimize all of those reminded above, so we won’t insist too much here.

But here are some resources you might find useful:

2. Don’t Assume Anything! Check Grammar, Facts, Quotes

Do you know what Euripides and my manager have in common?

They are both stuck in my head repeating this sentence: Question everything!

While this might be an obvious one, take a sincerity test: when was the last time you double or triple-checked a well-known fact?

Even the basic ones like: Cracking your knuckles will give you arthritis or Eskimos have dozens of words for snow.

You know this, so you use them in your content without checking them again.

Whether it’s a well-known SEO fact, a very famous quote, or an obvious grammar rule, double-check it.

Some time ago we published an article that talked about Wikipedia and whether advertising can be made on the big encyclopedia’s site.

And as an example, we offered Gibraltar.

We were super excited about the article and we thought it would stir a lot of controversies.

And it did. Yet, the apple of discord wasn’t whether you can inject advertising, but whether Gibraltar is a country or not.

It is a territory disputed between UK and Spain, we knew that, but we assumed that if it has its own capital and currency, it must be a country.

Well, it’s not and we had to stop and moderate the comments section due to this issue.

We changed the screenshot and transformed “country” into “territory” but, too little too late.

gibraltar country

We also had our share of “grammar shaming” from our users.

Some more years ago, we published a few pieces (that we assumed were written correctly from a grammar point of view) and we got some emails from our readers that weren’t so flattering.

We had spent so much time doing research, documenting, and reading a lot, and what people noticed first were the grammar mistakes.

Of course, we were proud enough to assume that we knew grammar and that it wasn’t what should have mattered first.

But a few emails from our users later, we decided to collaborate with an English teacher.

And that was one of the best decisions we took.

When it comes to grammar, things are a bit tricky, we know.

If your first language is not English, chances are you’ll need someone to look over your content.

At least, in the beginning, to give you some guidance.

Even if you’re one of those who go overboard when correcting grammar mistakes, a fresh eye is always a good idea.

Because you want your articles, your research, your blog to become an authority in your market, and this would be almost impossible with typos or style errors in your masterpiece.

If someone else is checking your work, that doesn’t make you less of a content writer or copywriter.

It will make you a better one.

3. Being Consistent Is Difficult. It’s Also the Key to Success

Ever wondered why so many TV shows which go on forever sooner or later have a significant drop in quality?

Coming up with a good idea can happen to any of us.

Coming up with a good idea every week for years and years?

That takes more than creativity.

It takes hard work and discipline and accepting the fact that some weeks it’s going to be a lot harder than others.

But the important thing is to keep going and keep wanting to put out good work.

Things aren’t always going to be in a straight line.

Difficult times are followed by better ones.

And sometimes the best rewards come after a period of struggling and pushing through.

Do you see the screenshot below?

It’s a pretty nice growth, isn’t it?

It’s a screenshot of cognitiveSEO’s visibility taken from our Site Explorer.

The chart below looks this good because of what we did two things:

  • We published constantly (we published at least once a week)
  • We optimized everything mentioned in the previous chapter, from URLs to conclusions.

cognitiveseo increase

(I admit that I gaze at this chart from time to time when my motivation is gone, or I procrastinate too much.)

Yes, we also used our Content Optimizer a lot and it worked great for us.

But we were consistent most of all.

We published frequently and we optimized everything for each and every article, be it in-depth research or a short case study.

And it did pay off.

4. Originality Is Good but so Is Content Update

Coming up with original ideas is no doubt key to progress.

But so is updating existing ones, despite being less glamorous.

Gaining knowledge tends to happen in small and uncertain steps, rather than in leaps and bounds.

Part of the process is refining and testing existing knowledge.

This is why we’ve often opted to update articles and research rather than start from scratch.

And it turned out to be a very good decision.

We even made an article on how content optimization increased our SEO visibility big time.

The results are summed up in the chart below.

Keyword rankings after optimization

You surely have articles that are not relevant anymore.

Or research you’ve worked so hard on, but now it is not bringing anything in terms of traffic.

Instead of letting them rot, try to resuscitate them, if it makes sense.

You’ll win more traffic and improve your overall blog quality.

Worst case scenario, this strategy won’t bring you much more traffic but at least you’ll have your blog articles up to date.

5. Google Algorithms Come and Go, Quality Content Stays

This is similar to the one-hit-wonder music bands.

We all remember the musical hit, we sing it at birthday parties for a period of time, yet we probably won’t buy the album just for that tune.

The same thing may happen to your content.

If you want your readers to look at your blog/brand/name with respect and put you in the trustworthy content category, make a habit out of delivering quality.

As the saying goes, we are what we repeatedly do.

Excellence is not an act, but a habit.

You’ve written a blog post and you have thousands of shares and appreciations?

That’s great.

Yet, that one-time performance won’t keep you on the top for long.

On the contrary, once you’ve set the bar high, you need to keep up with it to have killer content.

And yes, Google Updates are a harsh reality.

Yet, we have thousands of readers, clients, users, and it rarely happened for very good quality content to be penalized.

We’re not saying that it didn’t happen.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen good quality being penalized.

Yet, take this as a prevention measure.

If a policeman stopped you in traffic, would you be super confident that you did nothing wrong, or would you feel a bit panicked as you know you probably broke a few rules here and there?

The same with content and updates.

I know, it’s waaaaaaay easier said than done, but try to write content in such a manner, that if a quality update pops out, you won’t feel that scared.

But don’t take our word for granted. Here’s what Google says about what you should do when they update their algorithm.

google update recommendations

6. Creativity Is A Lot of Hard Work

The famous American television and radio host Larry King used to say to his audience a very witty story about his father.

He says that his father, of Ukrainian origins, came to the US thinking that America was the greatest land of all, where even the streets were paved with gold.

However, shortly after arriving, his father realized three things:

  • The streets weren’t paved with gold.
  • The streets weren’t paved at all.
  • He was the one to pave the streets.

There’s a dangerous cliche about creativity being the sort of lightning in a bottle phenomenon, young hip creatives staying late at night and coming up with wild ideas out of thin air.

Creativity

And that’s… definitely a more exciting version than reality.

But the truth is that so many times creativity is time and patience and incremental progress.

And it’s a collaborative effort more than it is an individual one.

Ultimately, you discover there is truth in the adage that spontaneous things take a lot of preparation.

Don’t pressure yourself in being creative 100% of the time.

You might be creative most of the time, without even noticing.

And we know it’s easier said than done but even if you don’t feel like it, start writing.

Just start, and the rest will follow.

Larry’s King father was a great man, we’re sure of it.

Yet, as inspirational as these success stories are, this is what they tend to remain: stories.

Of course, not all of them.

Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.

7. Questions Are More Useful than Answers

We’ve asked a lot of questions over the years and we haven’t always been able to answer all of them.

Understanding the right question to ask is, more often than not, the more challenging task.

Getting access to large amounts of data is no longer a serious problem.

What to do with the data will largely remain one for years to come.

So, whenever you want to perform research or elaborate on some stats, please remember: it’s not just that statistical interpretation and analysis require a certain skill set.

There are also strategic and sometimes even ethical choices to be made about how to frame the results or even what to look at in the first place.

Over the years, we have performed research on billions of data points.

And no, there is no exaggeration here. Literally billions of data points.

Each and every time we started having a question in mind we wanted to get an answer for; yet, almost each and every time we realized along the way that we had asked the wrong question.

Of course, this is the beauty of research.

But don’t be too proud when performing research. Even if your computer blocks after tens of Excel documents open, even if your stats software crashes, never ignore the other questions that will pop up from the research.

Take for instance this research on the influence of Titles and URLs on rankings.

The initial plan was to analyze a few hundred article titles and see if and how a title can influence rankings.

We ended up analyzing 35k keywords in both Titles and URLs because we realized that what we should actually look for is the importance of a keyword’s occurrence in a title, URL, domain, subdomain, and URI.

And as you can see in the chart below, in some cases, that huge amount of analyzed data told us…well…nothing relevant.

Yet, it was still worth discovering.

title research cognitivveseo

8. Forget Academic Writing

Academy

We’re going to keep this short. When we talk about academic writing, we don’t necessarily mean scientific articles.

But there’s a certain rigor to that writing which might not appeal to the general audience.

This is not to say you should dumb things down.

There’s a simple, two-step approach for making this happen:

Read what you’ve written out loud. If some parts don’t sound like something you’d say to a friend in real life, then change it.

9. Solve Your Readers’ Problems, not Your Dilemmas

A lot of content comes from wanting to share experiences.

You know something most other people – even those in your field – might not know.

You are excited about that and want to make them aware of your newly gained wisdom.

The important thing to remember is that the focus should stay on sharing and not on you as the source of wisdom.

That’s not to say your opinions have no place in your writing, on the contrary.

But always ask yourself these 3 questions:

  • Will this info help my readers better understand the subject?
  • Will this info help my readers better apply this knowledge for doing something practical?
  • Will this info help me look cool but not add anything valuable to this piece?

If the answer to the first two questions is a resounding “Yes”, then you should definitely include that piece of information in your copy.

If the answer to these questions is “No” and the only “Yes” comes from the third question, well… you’ve got yourself a pretty good conversation opener for the next party.

10. The Title of the Article Will Influence Its Performance

We’re not talking here only about the fact that keywords used in the titles of your copy have a high ranking importance.

We’ve conducted a study where it seems that the keyword that appears in the title makes a clear difference between ranking 1st or 2nd.

But also about the “catchiness” factor.

And no, I am not talking about click-bite titles, but about titles that are relevant in your industry.

We’ve published so much, and some content registered success while some didn’t, but one thing is sure: if it has anything related to Google in the title, it’s going to perform pretty well.

When comparing any study, research, opinion article that we’ve published to one that has “Google” in the title, chances are that the latter will get the most traffic, shares, links, etc.

google posts

So, you might be thinking: why don’t you add “Google” in all titles?

And now we come back to the previous points mentioned here: we don’t want to do clickbait only; we want to be relevant, to offer quality and respect for our readers.

When creating the title of your content, you should really think things through, as the title must not be only relevant and attractive but also SERP-friendly.

11. Write Less but Write Better

I am sure you’ve noticed this as well for years: fluff content in most of the industries (especially digital marketing).

There seems to be very little focus on SEO, audiences, conversions, and how articles/content will be helpful for the readers.

All of these things should be figured out BEFORE you write anything.

It is obvious when something was written strictly for an SEO goal.

Without value, fluff content isn’t going to help you even if you rank well for it.

There is no reason to create content so that you have it.

Write neat

You have to plan each piece of content based on which audience(s) you want to reach, what goals you have for each piece of content, how you will use it in social media to further your goals, and how you are hoping to rank.

This takes a lot of time and effort, but it is better than wasting time and resources on content that brings nothing to your company.

Without showing the ROI for your work, your job becomes expendable.

12. Write Less, Promote More

Don’t neglect content promotion.

You might be overly focused on content marketing processes.

And that’s definitely a good investment!

However, a lot of content marketers tend to skip the steps related to content promotion.

We know, we did.

Without promotion,  the majority of your work never reaches your targeted audience.

We recommend writing less and devoting more time to content promotion.

Start your content plan by writing a list of channels and influencers that can help you reach more relevant users and will allow you to start getting traffic and leads from each published post.

13. Stick to Your Principles

There will be many cases when you might be tempted to write click-bait articles or write just for the sake of writing, without offering real value.

Because you’ll be looking at your competitors, and you’ll see that they might get results even with not-so-qualitative content.

You’ll invest time, money, and nerves in well-documented researches that will not always perform the way you want.

You will get angry, and you will swear you won’t spend another night trying to bring quality to the Internet world.

I am sure this happens to any content writer at least once.

Yet, if you do stick to your principles, if you do invest time and quality in each and every article you write, it does pay off.

Write Meaningful Content

These are not just empty words.

Long time effort in content writing does pay off.

Don’t write anything you wouldn’t read.

There are no easy gains, indeed.

Yet, what matters at the end of the day is to have good long-term performances.

Conclusion

You might have read this article thoroughly, or you’ve just browsed the main titles, saying to yourself: I knew that. Knowledge is power.

But what matters at the end of the day is what you do with that knowledge.

All the actions you perform daily define who you are as a person, a marketer, or a business owner.

So make sure your actions have an impact on something, no matter how big or small.

The Canadian writer Margaret Atwood once said that the internet is 95 percent porn and spam.

So, let’s make that 5% be damn good.

Blogging Tips Can Really Assist You Today!

The Internet has created many new opportunities for people to communicate with each other. A blog is a great place for a person to voice his or her opinions and create a large online audience. If this is something you feel that concerns you, continue to read and you can check out how running a blog can help you.
Writing & Editing

A common mistake on sites is to overload viewers with Adsense ads, plug-ins, and keywords. These behaviors will ensure the search engines flag your site as breaking the rules, limiting your readership.

Remember to write for humans, not for search engines. That means writing in a smooth, natural way.

Guest Blogger

Guest bloggers are a great boon to blogs. This will enhance your site’s profile and improve its content. It is also a great way to get a boost in traffic numbers.

Guest Blogger

Try to have a rotation of guest authors on your blog.

Blog Comments

TIP! A good way to get more traffic to your blog is by making comments on other’s blogs. If you are a user of Google Reader, have a different folder filled with other blogs you want to keep tabs on.

Take the feedback you receive in your post comments into account without getting angry. There is always a critic, no matter the subject.

Use constructive criticism to help improve the quality of your blog. Negative criticism should just be answered then ignored. This projects a level of maturity and, in the end, you will gain readers.

Lists

Lists make great blog content. For instance, when writing about cooking, include lists of ingredients or the kitchen tools needed to create a memorable dish.

If you write about rebuilding the engine of your 1967 Volkswagen, include a list of parts needed. Incorporating lists helps readers quickly find the information they’re looking for.

Keep Blog Updated

Ensure that your blog remains in tip-top shape. This means that you should perform all of the maintenance that needs to be done and change small things every once in a while.

This will help keep readers from thinking your site is dull and that no one is having any problems accessing the blog.

TIP! Frequently add blog posts. A common mistake a lot of bloggers make is creating a blog but not updating it enough.

Mailing List

Try to develop your blog’s mailing list as quickly as you can. The sooner you start, the more time you have to grow your list.

Your mailing list can be useful for generating income later on. If you put off creating a mailing list, you might lose a lot of money, along with your wasted time.

Regular Content Writing

One essential part of a successful search engine optimization strategy for a blog is simply to create lots of content.

Blog Calendar

Consequently, you will see an increase in your readership when more and more people can find your site. Keeping this in mind will help you to boost your traffic levels.

Unique Domain

TIP! Owning your domain name, instead of taking advantage of a free site, can serve to your advantage. You will increase the professional appearance of your blog for a small fee.

Highlight Keywords

Take the time to make your keywords italic and bold. This will help your readers pick them out and the SE spiders also will like that. Keywords and phrases which stand out in your content will get clicked on by visitors, which is your goal.

Leverage Social Media

Build your blog through promotion on social networks. Social media has rapidly become a central part of the Internet experience, and if you ignore them you will turn your back on a vast potential audience for your blog.

If you want to post your blog to Facebook or even Twitter, you can get lots of new visitors to make your blog a success.

Fix Goals

Think about what you want to achieve through your blog before you create it. Would you like to become seen as an authority in your field? Maybe your main goal is to increase your income.

Blog Planner

Maybe you have many different goals. It’s crucial that you fully understand your goals so that you can build your blog around them.

TIP! You should allow guest posts to help increase blog traffic. This helps you build up connections with other bloggers, which is a helpful tool.

Be Responsive

You want readers to comment on your blog. This will make your readers feel like they are contributing to your blog. You also want to make sure that you take the time to respond to every comment.

This interactive exchange of views will encourage your audience to return again and again.

Improve Blog Readability

Try making sure to partition long blog posts into smaller ones. A long blog can be a lot to take in for a reader. Organize your blog into digestible sections, so it is easier to read by your intended audience.

Make sure that you always try to interlink your blogs within your content. This will help users navigate and will also keep them happy.

Enhance Blog Access

Your readers will flee if they can’t get around your blog through obvious navigation methods!

TIP! Include navigation buttons on your blog, so that your readers can reach you through social media. You can increase your blog’s impact and your own reputation if you make use of social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Be Contemporary

Keep your finger in the pie so to speak. Know what other bloggers are doing and adjust your site accordingly. Since they are competing against you, it is good to know their actions. Don’t forget that they will be checking out your blog, too.

Attention-grabbing Blog

Make your articles stand out since many web surfers need attention-grabbing content. The use of attention-grabbing headlines and font-enhanced keywords will allow you to do this. You can also use bullet points to attract and keep attention.

TIP! Keep up with the nuts and bolts of your blog. In order to do this, you have to update and maintain your blog, including making minor but appealing changes from time to time.

Link Bar

You should aim to use short yet relevant content up near the link bar. Link bar levels are popular hotspots. Some bloggers use it as a place to list their number of total subscribers.

While the link bar isn’t as frequently read as the beginning or end of a blog, it is still a good place to encourage new subscriptions.

Wrapping Up

After reading this article, you should know more about blog posting and how you can become a blogger. If you work hard and apply everything you’ve learned, you have a good chance of succeeding with your new blog.

Blogging Is A Good Tool To Use For Success

In today’s Internet-driven world, more and more people are opening blogs. Almost everybody seems to have a blog.

However, there are many factors to consider when you start blog posting, ones that will contribute to your success or failure.

Tips to Start a Blog

The following hints and tips can help you get started on creating a blog that is perfectly suited to you or your business.

Have a difference to your blog that is not seen elsewhere.

Readers are drawn to unique content. Including information that is difficult to find will attract readers too.

Write about unique experiences or hobbies.

Be intimate, personal, and honest. You need to give readers a reason to visit your blog if they are searching for information.

Include images with your posts.

Pictures can show a lot more than words can say sometimes.

This is especially important when blog posting. Pictures can say much more than words can.

You want to make sure that you include as many images as you can.

Use SEO

TIP! It is important that your blog uses search engine optimization. Because the key is to attract the greatest readership possible, it is important to ensure your blog’s presence in search engine results for relevant subjects.

Use lists to communicate ideas effectively in your blogs.

Make a List

Lists can effectively provide information that does not require a lot of explanation, such as ingredients for a recipe or parts needed to assemble a device.

Lists allow the reader to see the information in a visually appealing way.

Enable reader comments on your blog.

Take the time to respond to comments, whenever possible.

By doing this, your readers will feel that they are actively involved in the site, and it will allow you to have a relationship with them.

If people see you are responding to their comments, they’ll return to see how you’ve responded to them.

Select Right Topics

A topic that excites your interest and passion is particularly important when you make a blog.

It will seem more authentic and sincere if you write from the heart about topics you love.

This will create a stronger connection with your readers and your blog posting will thrive!

Don’t Overdo

TIP! Don’t overdo any element on your websites, such as advertising or keywords. Doing this will raise a red flag on search engines and cancel out your hard work.

Be a Professional Blogger

Others' Help

A successful blogger understands that writing a blog is a complex activity.

It is better to consider your blog as a professional, competitive product and continue to learn how to improve it.

Use seasoned bloggers as a good example to follow, and apply what you learn to your own techniques in a constantly evolving process.

Improving your skills and incorporating new blogging ideas into your current project will keep you above your competition.

Increase Findability

The more high-quality, relevant content you have on your blog, the higher search engines will rank it.

This will make it easier for readers to find you when searching for your niche.

Consequently, you will see an increase in your readership when more and more people can find your site.

Follow this advice to see a powerful increase in your readership.

While many tips for your blog are serious business, having fun with it is the most important strategy of all.

Be Passionate

Passion

If you’re bored by what you’re writing, your readers will be bored too.

On the flip side, if you’re passionate, your readers will be hooked.

Choose a topic you’re passionate about.

Enjoy what you’re doing as you write.

If you enjoy the topic that you are writing about, that enjoyment will become contagious!

Post Regularly

Blog Calendar

TIP! You should make every effort to add new content to your blog regularly. To increase and maintain your traffic, you need to provide new content on a regular basis.

Do Research

Always do your homework and research any topic you will cover on your blog.

If you are not well versed in the subjects you post about, you could deliver misleading or inaccurate information.

Additionally, you will require a sufficient level of expertise in order to adequately respond to comments.

Hold Contest & Gift

Sharing

Holding contests and giveaways can be a great draw to pull in readers for your site.

Everyone enjoys free things, and it doesn’t even need to be something significant.

If you want to attract a huge number of readers, give away as much stuff for free as you possibly can.

In addition, they are likely to return to see what other free things you have to offer in the future.

Enhance Readability

Keep each and every blog simple, to the point, and focused on one single topic.

Overcrowding your blog articles with many topics may make them confusing and be a turn-off to readers.

Keeping it simple is one of the best ways to improve your blog’s readability.

Invite Guest Bloggers

TIP! You should consider inviting guests to make posts on your blog. This could develop a good relationship between you to other blog owners, and you don’t know when this could come in handy.

Make sure your blog titles and content stand out.

There is a wealth of blogs out there competing for the same readers, and you need to give them a reason to view yours.

This can be done by using attention-grabbing headings with bold keywords.

Bullet points are another great way to call attention.

Blogging conferences and conventions are a worthwhile investment.

You can use the valuable information provided by these conferences to improve your own blog writing skills.

Having the ability to socialize with people who are successful bloggers tends to improve your own blog posting skills.

Think about whether you want to include ads on the blog.

Most blogs use advertisements to make money.

Ads can irritate some of your readers and reduce the effectiveness of your message.

It’s obvious you’re blog posting for money when your reader sees an ad, and they might lose trust in you due to this fact.

Be Consistent

TIP! Maintain a healthy blog. Complete maintenance tasks often, such as checking for broken links and code or changing items within the layout to keep it fresh.

Calendar of Month

As previously noted, blog posting seems such an easy thing to do, at first.

Everyone has opinions and advice that they would like to share.

Once you realize how much effort you have to put into creating the blog, it can seem overwhelming.

The tips provided in this article can help you to design a great blog that is both fun to write and interesting to read.

Whether you want to become a blogger for a big-time news publication, share your independent thoughts online, make millions as a blogger, or something in between, it all starts with a blogging platform.

Our Blog

Disclosure: This content is reader-supported, which means if you click on some of our links that we may earn a commission.

And choosing the right one sets precedence for everything else you do.

But with so many options to choose from, picking the best blogging platform can feel overwhelming.

So to help you out, I created a list of considerations to think about as you go through the process and reviewed the top five blogging platforms on the market today.

By the end of this article, you’ll be well on your way to starting your own blog.

The Top 6 Options for Blogging Platforms:

Wix – Best drag-and-drop blogging platform

WordPress.org – Best open-source blogging platform

Squarespace – Best for visual-based businesses

Medium – Best traditional blogging platform

Blogger – Best for personal blogs

How to choose the best blogging platform for you

Pick Flowers

Pick Fruits

Choosing a blogging platform is an important decision.

And the one you choose depends on what you hope to do with your new blog and how much control you want to have.

So, let’s walk through what to consider as you make your final decision.

Do you want to make money?

This is probably the most crucial question to ask yourself.

If you want to start a personal blog to share your thoughts and experiences, you’re completely fine going with a free blogging platform, like Medium or Blogger.

However, if you want to make money blogging, you have to be careful.

Most free platforms don’t let you monetize your blog.

So, you need to choose a premium blogging platform that gives you more control, like Wix, WordPress.org, or Squarespace.

Do you already have a website?

If you want to add a blog to a website you already have, I highly recommend looking into your website platform’s blogging capabilities.

This is the easiest way to add a blog to a website that already exists.

Alternatively, you can look into migrating your website to Wix, WordPress.org, or Squarespace.

However, I recommend staying with the platform you’re already using if you can.

Customization capabilities

Paid blogging platforms give you more control and design flexibility, allowing you to build a complete website and brand around your blog.

And you can customize the look and feel of nearly every aspect of your website.

If you’re serious about blogging as a business, you need that level of control.

For complete flexibility and customization options, go with WordPress.org.

And if you want something easier than WordPress, yet still flexible, Wix and Squarespace are great drag-and-drop options.

On the other hand, free blogging platforms don’t give you the ability to customize to that extent.

You may be able to change the colors and pick between a few different layouts.

But, you can’t do much aside from that.

With that said, if you’re interested in personal or hobby blogging, you don’t need anything fancy.

Free blogging platforms offer everything you need to quickly write content and share it online in just a few clicks.

The Different Types of Blogging Platforms

Salad of Different Vegetables

There are several different types of blogging platforms.

And the right one for you depends on what you want to do with your blog.

So, before we dive into my top recommendations, let’s walk through the different types and what they’re used for.

Free

Free blogging platforms come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

They’re perfect for anyone interested in personal or hobby blogging.

And it’s the easiest way to write and publish content online quickly.

However, free blogging platforms usually don’t let you make money with your content.

You can’t make money with ads, use affiliate marketing, or sell your own products.

Furthermore, they’re very limited in design flexibility and customization capabilities.

You may even be stuck with random ads placed on your blog.

And migrating your content from a free platform to another isn’t an easy process.

So, they’re not suitable for business bloggers or anyone interested in making money blogging at any point in the future.

Website builders

Website builders are all-inclusive, drag-and-drop design tools that let you quickly build an entire website without touching any code.

They’re easy to set up, simple to use, and include a full suite of blogging tools.

However, they’re not free.

But web hosting is included with your subscription, and some even offer a free custom domain name for the first year.

Furthermore, you get a significant level of flexibility and customization.

But some areas may be limited depending on the blogging platform you choose.

This is a great place to start if you want to make money, but you’ve never built a website before.

Just keep in mind that you sacrifice some flexibility in exchange for ease of use.

Open-source

Open-source blogging platforms are free to download and install. They’re completely customizable from the inside out, making them perfect for serious bloggers and business owners interested in building a full-fledged custom website.

However, there’s a steeper learning curve.

But once you get the hang of it, you’ll realize how flexible and customizable this type of blogging platform really is.

You can create ecommerce stores, business websites, portfolios, service-based websites, interactive blogs, and more.

With that said, you have to buy web hosting before you can install open-source software.

But most web hosts make this type of software easy to install with one-click installation.

Examples of The Best Blogging Platforms with In-Depth Review

#1 – Wix Review — The best drag-and-drop blogging platform

If you’re looking for the easiest premium blogging platform, you should go with Wix.

It’s an all-in-one website builder with more than 100 million users worldwide, making it one of the most popular options on the market.

Best Blogging Platform - Wix

Furthermore, it’s excellent for beginners interested in creating a full-fledged website with a blog included.

And Wix’s intuitive drag-and-drop builder makes creating engaging blog content a breeze.

Plus, it includes everything you need to make money with your new blog.

With Wix, you get premium blogging features, including:

  • 500 professional design templates
  • Industry-leading SEO tools
  • Rich-text editor
  • Embed HTML codes
  • Categories and hashtags
  • Advanced search capabilities
  • Writer and editor user roles
  • Easy image editing
  • Social media tools
  • Visitor analytics

Wix is arguably the easiest and fastest way to get your professional website and blog running.

You can also take advantage of their ADI (advanced design intelligence) tool, which creates everything you need to get started in a matter of minutes.

Simply answer a few questions, customize the design, add your website copy, update your images, and you’re ready to start blogging.

Wix offers a free plan, which is excellent for building your site and getting everything ready to go.

However, I highly recommend upgrading to a paid plan so you can remove Wix ads and connect a custom domain name.

Paid plans start at $13/mo and increase depending on the features you need.

#2 – WordPress.org Review — The best open-source blogging platform

WordPress.org is an open-source blogging platform with complete design flexibility.

It also powers 38% of the entire internet, including the blog you’re reading right now, making it the most popular blogging platform on the market.

And the best part? It’s free to download and install.

Best Blogging Platform - WordPress

However, you do need web hosting to be able to use it.

This usually costs around $3 – $10 per month, so it’s the most affordable option on this list.

With that said, it’s not as easy as Wix.

There are a few more steps to get started, but the extra work is well worth it if you’re looking for complete design control and flexibility.

With WordPress.org, you also get:

  • 55,000+ plugins to extend the functionality of your site
  • Thousands of free and premium themes
  • The Gutenburg block editor
  • Advanced user roles and permissions
  • Powerful media management
  • A massive community of experts
  • Infinite design control

The best part is that you have 100% control over your website and blog. Plus, you aren’t tied down by rules and regulations. You can decide what to display, what you don’t reveal, and how you make money.

There are countless ways to get started with WordPress.org.

But I highly recommend starting with Bluehost.

It’s the easiest way to get everything you need.

They also include a free domain name for the first year.

So, all you have to do is pick a hosting plan, snag your free domain, and use their one-click WordPress installation feature.

#3 – Squarespace Review — The best blogging platform for visual-based businesses

Squarespace is an all-in-one website builder, like Wix.

However, it’s famous for aesthetically pleasing templates, making it perfect for visual-based businesses like photographers, designers, and artists.

It’s also straightforward to use.

Plus, it includes web hosting services and a free domain for the first year (if you choose an annual premium plan).

Best Blogging Platform - Squarespace

It’s perfect for bloggers who want an easy, aesthetic way to share images, videos, and portfolio pieces, along with long-form and short-form blog posts.

And with Squarespace, you create blog posts the same way you create pages.

So, once you learn how the drag-and-drop editor works, you know how to use the entire platform.

You also get access to powerful blogging features, including:

  • Free blogging templates to help you get started
  • Five unique post layouts for your home and archive pages
  • Categories, tags, and featured posts
  • Built-in post scheduler
  • Contributor permissions
  • In-depth analytics
  • SEO and social media tools
  • Email marketing (additional fees)
  • Expert customer service
  • Mobile app

Squarespace isn’t as customizable as Wix or WordPress.org, but it’s perfect for creative bloggers and visual-based businesses looking for something captivating and easy to use.

Paid plans start at $12 per month and increase depending on the features you need.

#4 – Medium Review — The best traditional blogging platform

Medium is a platform that helps readers and writers find new ideas, knowledge, and perspectives.

It’s unique because there are no ads present on the platform.

To date, they have over 120 million readers, making this an excellent way to get your content in front of more people.

It’s also great if you want to share personal stories and perspectives to get your thoughts out to the world.

Best Blogging Platform Medium

However, it’s not a great platform for making money as a blogger.

The medium does have a partner program that rewards writers for the amount of time paying members spend reading their content.

But you’ll have a hard time making a decent amount of money on Medium alone.

And you can’t include your own call-to-actions in partner posts.

So, you have to choose between making money and growing your email list.

It’s not a flawed model.

However, I highly recommend treating Medium as an extension of your Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress.org blog.

To get started, you can create a profile or a publication.

Publications look more aesthetically pleasing, and you get more organization and display features.

With publications, you can also send newsletters to your followers.

However, it doesn’t really matter which one you choose.

Note: if you use Medium as an extension of your blog, make sure you use their import feature to add existing blog posts.

This way, you can add content from your blog to Medium without creating duplicate content for SEO purposes.

#5 – Blogger Review – The best for personal blogs

Blogger is one of the original blogging platforms. It’s been around since 1999.

It’s completely free to use with no paid plans, upsells, or anything like that. And it’s incredibly easy to use.

This makes it perfect for personal or hobby bloggers looking to share their thoughts and ideas with the world.

Best Blogging Platform - Blogger

They have several free templates to choose from that govern how your blog looks.

However, they’re not very customizable.

You can change the colors and the layout of a few things, but that’s about it.

The platform focuses solely on blogging, so that’s where the majority of its features lie.

With Blogger, you get free access to essential features, including:

  • A free SSL certificate and free domain mapping
  • Google integrations
  • Image storage with Google Photos
  • Integrated ad campaigns
  • Simple text editor

And while those features are great, the platform is seriously lacking in other departments, including customization, custom post types, and overall design.

Essentially, it’s an old-school blogging platform.

It works well for simple blogging, but you can’t create a full-fledged website, so I don’t recommend it if you want to build a brand and make money blogging.

However, since Google’s acquisition in 2003, you can display Google Ads on your blog to make a little extra money on the side.

But, it’s not a sustainable or long-term way to make a full-time income with your blog.

Summary

The best blogging platform for you depends on where you want to take your blog.

For personal and hobby bloggers, a free platform like Blogger or Medium is the perfect place to start.

They’re easy to set up, incredibly simple, and the fastest way to start publishing online.

Plus, you don’t have to pay anything to share your thoughts and ideas.

However, if you want to make money and turn your blog into a business, free platforms won’t cut it.

The easiest premium blogging platforms are Wix and Squarespace, making them perfect for beginners.

However, if you want the ultimate level of control, go with WordPress.org hosted by Bluehost.

Tips And Tricks To Achieving Blog Posting Bliss!

It isn’t always easy to make and establish a new blog. With the abundance of blogs these days, it is both difficult and important to stand out from the rest. Do you desire to learn how to create your own blog which stands above your competition? Read on!

Our Blog

Be Unique.

Have a difference to your blog that is not seen elsewhere. Unique content will draw readers.

Adding information that is hard to find will have the same results.

Talk about unusual and interesting events and experiences.

Be intimate, personal, and honest.

Be Honest

What you want to do is have a reason that viewers choose your blog instead of another one.

Be honest about what you do and don’t know. Do not seem to be a know-it-all.

Be honest, transparent, and open to new ideas. Keep this in mind at all times.

Your blog is a revelation of who you really are.

Don’t try to reach a state of perfection; simply get better at what you do daily.

If you are incorrect, then you are incorrect.

You’re unique and nobody is you, but you.

TIP! Commenting on other people’s blogs is an excellent method of raising interest in your own blog. Google Reader has an excellent tool for keeping tabs on blogs that are related to your own.

Keep your posts brief and to the point.

To the Point

Don’t use too many words or go on for too long, as your readers will lose interest.

Provide details without making your blogs overly long.

Those that read blogs aren’t likely to appreciate a Shakespearian ability to describe the most mundane details of a setting.

In other words, focus on the meat of the post, not the garnish.

Blog Comments.

Webinar

Read all of your comments and try to respond to any feedback given without taking it too personally.

Regardless of the subject matter, someone is sure to offer criticism.

Improve your blog by taking constructive criticism to heart.

Those that are negative or destructive, respond politely and move on.

You will give readers the impression that you are a mature individual who cares about what readers have to say, helping to grow your relationship with all of your site visitors.

Let your readers post comments on your blog posts, and reply to those comments.

By doing this, your readers will feel that they are actively involved in the site, and it will allow you to have a relationship with them.

When it is understood that you are actively responding to all comments that are left for you, your readers will return often to see how you responded to their individual comments.

TIP! Update your blog frequently. The biggest problem with new blogs is infrequent posts.

Organize the Blog.

Blog writing

In longer posts, it is very helpful to use subheadings to organize the article for better readability.

It will be easier to read your blog and you will gain more viewers.

Make bullet points and include italic text along with keywords that are part of your niche.

This is a great way to boost accessibility for both search engines and viewers.

This will ensure that your blog succeeds.

Enhance Blogging Approaches.

Improve your blogging approaches whenever and wherever possible.

You should always be researching, learning, and generally approaching your blog as a business.

Learn from what other successful bloggers are doing, and try to incorporate some of their strategies into your own blog.

Your readers will no doubt appreciate the extra effort you put into creating an efficient blog.

TIP! Keep your content fresh. New content on a regular basis is the only way that your blog will experience an increase in viewers.

Social media can be a great way to promote a blog, so long as it is done with restraint.

If your Twitter tweets always include your blog link, people will start to ignore them.

Combine links with other, interesting content.

Search Engine Optimization

Put your keywords in bold and italic.

This is a practice that is not only helpful to search engine indexers; your readers will appreciate it, too.

This is an easy way to convey the heart of your blog’s message to your readers while also improving your search engine results.

TIP! Invite bloggers who are extremely successful to write some blog blogs on your site. Doing this will give your blog some extra quality content.

Social Media Optimization

If you want to add visitors, using social media to promote your blog is a plus.

Because social media is such a popular method of communication these days, ignoring these modalities can mean losing out on lots of potential blog traffic.

Posting your blog content to places like Facebook and Twitter is highly recommended if you want a successful blog.

Make sure you know what you are talking about before you start running a blog.

If you are not up to date with the subject, you might end up giving misleading and false information.

You need sufficient expertise on a topic to intelligently write or post about it.

Write about things that people are always going to want to know about.

Blogging about constantly in-demand topics is a smart tactic that will ensure that readers will still visit your blog years from now.

TIP! One way to increase your blog’s visibility is to allow guest posting. This practice could help you to develop good relationships with other blog owners, which could prove lucrative in the future.

Polls & Surveys

Vote

Include polls and surveys within your blog.

This can increase web traffic and enhance your user experience.

Post the results, then comment on the data and its implications for your readers.

These surveys also help you to identify ways you can change and improve your blog.

Standout from the Crowd

Standing Out

Since many people don’t want to read too much content, you have to make sure your blog posts stand out.

Titles that titillate will bring in readers from search engines, social media, and other blogs which link to you.

Bullet points are also a great way to break up long articles and express key points.

Think hard about any decision to incorporate advertisements within your blog site.

Ads are a way to earn money from your blog. Advertisements can distract readers and hinder your message.

The fact that you are trying to make money becomes immediately obvious to the reader.

TIP! Avoid infrequent blog posts if you want to keep your readers interested and invite repeat visitors. The best blogs post daily, which keeps readers interested in the blog and makes them return again and again.

Post Regularly

Fresh

Post at regular intervals according to a set schedule.

By posting on certain days, your readers will know when to expect new content.

Your viewing audience will enjoy the new content and appreciate the fact that they can predict when it will be posted.

Try to write about a wide range of topics on your blog, as this will stop posts from becoming repetitive.

Now you can make a blog and you do not have to worry about how to be a great blogger, because time will eventually do this for you.

If you take advantage of what you’ve learned in this article, you’ll soon build up a following that will be anxiously awaiting your future blog posts.
